Collect the Malta eco tax before your guests arrive
Guests pay the environmental contribution in their personal portal, as its own payment with its own receipt. You download the quarterly MTA return in the official template, per licence, without retyping a single booking.

How the eco-contribution is calculated
The built-in Malta definition charges every guest aged 18 or over per night, capped per person and stay, and exempts under-18s. Since 1 July 2026 that is €1.50 per night with a cap of €22.50 (15 nights). The amount follows the number of adults the guest confirms in the online check-in, so a late change of party size is reflected automatically.
- Per adult per night, capped per person
- Under-18s exempt
- Shown separately from the accommodation price, without VAT
- Waive it for a guest with a reason; a waived amount stays due to the MTA and is flagged in the return
Announced: €10 per night for short lets from 2027
Malta’s Budget 2027 speech (26 October 2026) announced €10 per adult per night for short-let accommodation, capped at €80 per person (8 nights), and €8 / €64 for hotels, from 1 January 2027. This is an announcement, not yet law: until the legal notice is published, the current rate above applies. The platform then adds the new rate with its start date, and stays from that date are charged the new rate automatically.

- Open Eco return and choose the quarter — the card shows when submission opens and how many days are left
- Check the summary per MTA licence: adults, chargeable nights, amount due, paid, waived and unpaid; click a line to fix a booking
- Download the MTA template (.xlsx) — the official booking template filled from row 8 — or the same layout as CSV
- Upload it in the MTA’s online system and pay the total before the deadline; keep the file with your records
Paid into your own Revolut account
